In the first half of 2020 the University of Tartu has concluded agreements on research and development with various enterprises in the value of 3 million euros. This reflects the result of the same period last year. The value of current research projects under negotiation exceeds 4 million euros.
This year Estonian companies are more extensively investing their own resources into research: in the first half of 2020 the percentage of agreements based on grants was only 22 percent compared to that of 67 percent last year.
ADAPTER network has new members: Võru County Vocational Training Centre, The Centre of Competence for Wood Processing and Furniture Manufacturing TSENTER, Estonian Aviation Academy and Estonian Entrepreneurship University of Applied Sciences. Now ADAPTER network provides common access up to 15 research organizations.
University of Tartus Proof of Concept fund received 49 applications based on exciting research-intensive ideas. The size of the fund was in total 250 000 euros, to which faculty of science and technology added about 15 000 euros for their own projects.
UT spin-off program
By the end of June 2020, with the two new companies KetitaLabs and LeapMetric on board, the number of UT spin-offs has reached 57.
